As women, we often live in a rhythm of pouring out – our time, our energy, our hearts. Whether in our homes, workplaces, ministries, or parenting, it’s easy to focus solely on what we give.
But what happens when we forget to fill up? When all of our giving comes from a place of emptiness. God never intended for us to live in that cycle of exhaustion. Instead, Scripture paints a picture of life overflowing – and calls us to live from that brimming place.
When Jesus said he came that we might have life to the full, he made a timeless statement that, to be honest, sounds radical in our modern day and age: life in him is not meant to be scarce, strained, or hollow. We will always have enough.
Regardless of what’s on our plates, what’s in our bank accounts, or what fills our schedules, we are invited – called! – to a Spirit-empowered life that overflows with the goodness of God.
But this kind of overflow doesn’t come from striving; it comes from abiding. It’s rooted in trusting the God who fills us completely. And the more we surrender in faith, the more room we have to receive Him.
One of the most beautiful illustrations of this is found in Psalm 23:5, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Even when surrounded by hardship or opposition, our Father provides, protects, and pours out His Spirit.
He blesses us not just to comfort us, but to empower us to live from the overflow – and to spill His presence out onto others.
This month, let’s commit to living from the overflow.
Week 1: Full
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
–John 10:10
The contrast couldn’t be more clear. Life with the enemy is always empty. Life with Jesus leaves you full.
Reflect: What areas of your life feel depleted — like the enemy is trying to steal them away? Might Jesus be inviting you to experience His fullness in that very place instead?
Week 2: Trust
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
–Romans 15:13
He fills us as we trust in him. It takes faith to trust instead of force, abide insead of grind, accept instead of strive.
Reflect: How can you increase your trust in God this week, allowing hope to overflow? What would it look like to be filled with all joy and peace?
Week 3: Feast
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
–Psalm 23:5
I love this beautiful depiction of feasting, and under no ordinary circumstances. He sets our table against all odds and invites us to dig in.
Reflect: Where has God shown up for you in difficult seasons? How has He anointed and sustained you? Let His history of faithfulness empower your present.
Week 4: Overflow
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
–2 Corinthians 9:8
His overflowing abundance isn’t just so that we might experience a sensation of fullness. The whole purpose is so that we might spill out on those around us.
Reflect: What “good work” is God calling you to step into from a place of His provision? Think of what “spills out of you” on a daily basis. If it is not Jesus, then consider the possibility that you might ask him for a greater and more abundant filling of his presence in your heart.

Who likes to be stressed?
I certainly don't. However, I’ve learned that before nearly every season of blessing there is a season of stressing. Before the overflow it often feels like a drought.
And it is during the “stress” season that the opponents of God's goodness rear their ugly heads to try and discourage, depress, delay, distract, and convince us the current season is a dead-end. That God has forgotten us.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. God tells us in His word and shows us from His history that He is God of the overflow. He gives abundantly beyond what we could ask or imagine.
The Bible has numerous stories and examples of this. Jesus goes from being tempted in the desert to being tended by angels. Job's season of heartache ends with the Lord blessing the latter part of his life even more than the former. Abraham's delay for a son goes on to see him as the father of many nations.
The list goes on and on. The stories don’t stop at the testing. They end with the blessing. God promises us more than we need, and He shows up time and again. In the overflow.
Let’s learn what it means this month to live out of the overflow – to operate from a mindset of abundance and provision in Jesus as opposed to striving and scarcity in our own strength.
Week 1: Grow
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
–John 10:10
What stressful situations are you facing today? Are they in alignment with what God says? How can you differentiate between what God says to be true and what you are facing? This should be easy to determine through prayer and digging into the Word.
Practice: Let's focus this week on God's promises and what He wants to accomplish in your season of testing. Reflect on what God wants to change or grow within your life. Agree with Him, and allow the change to happen according to His will for you.
Week 2: Hope
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
–Romans 15:13
It is difficult at times to see God's hand at work, but God always delivers in His divine time. That is a fact – the circumstances, people, and situations in our lives don't define us, God does.
Practice: Lets focus on God's promises and who He says you are. This week, find promises and scripture on how God defines you. List them, and focus on them. Profess them and let them grow hope within you.
Week 3: Deliverance
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
–Psalm 23:5
We see the end result of staying faithful. Deliverance. God's purpose and love always prevail.
Practice: This week, let's focus on God’s deliverance and all that it brings. How can you recognize God's everlasting love? What changes would it make on the way you perceive current challenges to know that in Him, you ultimately and always win?
Week 4: Overflow
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
–2 Corinthians 9:8
God's promise is deliverance. His very nature is abundance. But He doesn’t want it to stop there. Ultimately, God overflows into us so that we might overflow His presence onto all of those around us.
Practice: This week, let's lean into the truth that we always have enough. Thank God for His overflow, and ask Him to show you moments where you might overflow His presence on those around you – with your words, your actions, your very presence.

A fully charged phone – we love the feeling, right?
On the other hand, you’ve likely experienced the frustration of a dwindling battery and no charger in sight. Not enough juice to do what you need. It makes a phone feel worthless.
One way to think of your soul is like a phone battery. God is the charger. And the enemy’s whole aim is to drain the charge.
The Bible is explicitly clear when it comes to what God wants us to experience: being fully charged and overflowing with purpose, peace, and joy.
Jesus didn’t come so we could just get by. He came so we could thrive – even when life gets messy or hard. When we trust Him, He fills us with more than we can hold on our own. And that overflow? It’s meant to spill out on the people around us – friends, family, even strangers.
This month, we’re exploring what it really means to live an overflowing life with God. When we try to fill up on anything other than Him, we’ll always wind up empty. But if we fill ourselves with Him, no matter how much we spill Him out, we’ll always remain full. Not just full…overflowing.
Experiencing overflow requires trust. Trusting God doesn’t always mean we understand everything or even that we get what we want. Instead, it's choosing to believe He is working, even in hard times. Just like Psalm 23 shows us – God is with us even when we sit amongst our “enemies,” and His goodness doesn’t run out. Ever.
Week 1: Full
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
–John 10:10
What does “life to the full” look like in your daily life? Identify the “thieves” that try to steal your joy and peace. How does Jesus’s promise of full life change your perspective on your struggles?
Practice: This week, choose one way to lean into the abundant life Jesus offers — prayer, service, gratitude, etc. It is through these moments of connection that He fills our souls.
Week 2: Hope
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
–Romans 15:13
How are joy and peace connected to trusting God? We see in Romans that these things are ours as we trust in Him. Reflect on a time when God filled you with hope.
Practice: What would it look like for you to “overflow with hope” at school or at home? Ask God each day this week to fill you with His Spirit and renew your hope.
Week 3: Goodness
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
–Psalm 23:5
How has God shown up and “prepared a table” for you, even when life was hard? What does it mean that your cup overflows, even in the presence of enemies or problems?
Practice: Think of a blessing God has given you recently. Share His goodness with someone else this week – through words or actions.
Week 4: Trust
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
–2 Corinthians 9:8
What does it mean to have “all you need” from God? How can God’s blessings in your life help you serve others? Remember, abundance is more about trusting and receiving than it is about working to get ahead.
Practice: Identify one good work God might be calling you to this week. Trust God to provide you with the energy, courage, boldness, faith, or whatever else you need as you step out in obedience.
