The Gospel in Plain Words
Why We Need Jesus
From the very beginning, God created us for relationship with Him—perfect, unbroken fellowship. But humanity turned away. We chose our own way instead of God’s way. The Bible calls this sin.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
Sin separates us from God, and the consequence is spiritual death—eternal separation from Him. No amount of good deeds, religion, or effort can bridge that gap. We need rescue.
What Jesus Has Done
God didn’t leave us in our brokenness. Out of love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, to live the perfect life we couldn’t live. Jesus willingly took our place on the cross, bearing the penalty for our sin.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin, death, and the devil forever. His resurrection proves He is the only way back to God and the only source of eternal life.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
How to Respond
The gospel is not just news—it’s an invitation. God offers salvation as a free gift. We can’t earn it; we can only receive it by repenting (turning from our sin) and believing in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
When we trust in Him, He forgives us completely, makes us new, and gives us His Spirit to live in us. This new life starts now and lasts forever.
Final Thought
The gospel is simple: Jesus in our place. He lived the life we couldn’t live. He died the death we deserved. He rose to give us life we could never earn.
The question is—will you trust Him?
