I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

If something in that found you, stay with me.

This is the part I would say with my hand on yours.

The person that hurt you. What they did was real. I am not going to pretend it was small.

But here is the thing almost no one will tell you. When Jesus went to the cross, he carried all of it. Every betrayal. Every wound. Even the one with that person's name on it. The debt was paid, in full, two thousand years ago.

So when we hold onto an offense, when we keep it close and refuse to set it down, we are quietly telling Jesus that what he did on the cross was not enough. That his blood covered everyone but that one name. That we will keep collecting on a debt he already settled, because deep down we are not sure we can trust him to handle it.

That is the hard part. Unforgiveness is not strength. It is us climbing onto a seat that was never ours, the judge's seat, because we do not quite trust the One who already sits there.

Forgiveness was never saying it was okay. It was not okay. It is taking your hands off the scale and handing it back to the only One good enough to judge it. He saw what they did, more clearly than you ever could. And he is a better judge than you will ever have to be.

So you can set it down. Not because they earned it. Because the cross was enough.
